Upgrading your netBooter DU series PDU device firmware involves accessing the web UI and uploading the appropriate bin file.
Step-by-Step Firmware Upgrade
Step 1: Identify the Hardware Revision and Obtain the Correct Firmware File
Identify the hardware revision of your netBooter DU unit. You will need to ensure the firmware Hardware Revision matches your devices'.
- Check the product sticker on your netBooter device. Look for a field labeled HW.
- Common examples: 6.1, 6.1.2, 4.2, etc.
If no HW value is printed on your label (PDUs manufactured before 2024), please login to the web UI of your PDU, and scroll down on the home page (Operation Status) to the System Status section. You will see a "Version" field - in the version field, there is a HWx.x value, where x.x will be your hardware revision.

Download the correct firmware file for your hardware revision by visiting the netBooter DU series support page.
Step 2: Connect your netBooter PDU to the network and access the upgrade URL
Access the PDU's web UI, and look for the "Firmware Upgrade" menu item on the left side.

Note that older firmware revisions may not have the Firmware Upgrade option on the menu. If you do not see the Firmware Upgrade option, please navigate to http://192.168.1.100/synl, replacing 192.168.1.100 with your PDU's IP if different.
Step 3: Upload the Firmware File
In the file upload section (shown below), upload your file and click on Upload. The entire update process typically takes 30-120 seconds - the device will reboot itself after the upgrade is complete.

Step 4: Verify the Firmware Update
Log into the web UI of the device, and scroll to the bottom of the home page. Look for the Version in the System Status table, and verify that the new matches the version you expect.
Troubleshooting
Firmware Update Fails or Unit is Powered Off during Update
If the update process fails (for example, due to power loss or a network issue), the unit may become unresponsive. If this happens, netBooter DU series PDUs will attempt to go into Recovery Mode, where the PDU will be minimally operational at a static IP value of 192.168.2.220.
- Power cycle the unit. It should boot into recovery mode using the default IP address 192.168.2.220.
- Configure your PC to use an IP in the 192.168.2.x subnet.
- Connect your PDU directly to your PC using an Ethernet cable.
- Visit to http://192.168.2.220/synl to attempt the upgrade process again
If the device is not accessible at 192.168.2.220, please contact support for help recovering your PDU.
My device reboots after upgrading but the firmware version has not changed
If the firmware revision passed into the device is older than the existing version, the device will not attempt to upgrade.
